SundayJYOTIṢA LEARNING CENTER
Learn the vocabulary and structure of traditional Hindu astrology. Associations shown here describe interpretive traditions; they are not scientifically established predictions or guarantees about a person’s future.
A birth chart is traditionally interpreted as a whole: date, exact time, location, planetary condition, houses, aspects, daśās and interpretive lineage all matter. A Sun sign alone is not a complete Jyotiṣa reading.

No placement works alone. Responsible interpretation moves from astronomical data to a documented framework and then to cautious synthesis.
The zodiac degree rising on the eastern horizon. It establishes the first house and changes quickly, so exact birth time and place are essential.
A house represents an area of experience. House boundaries and interpretive methods differ between systems.
Sign, house, dignity, combustion, retrogression, speed, aspects and association are considered together.
Planetary aspects. Parāśari graha dṛṣṭi, Jaimini rāśi dṛṣṭi and other approaches must be labeled.
The offset used to convert tropical longitude to a sidereal framework. Different values can change sensitive placements.
Divisional charts examine specific domains. The navāṃśa is interpreted with, not independently from, the natal chart.
Planetary period systems organize symbolic timing. Vimśottarī is widely used but is not the only system.
Transits describe current movement relative to the natal chart and are weighed with daśā and natal promise.
A defined planetary combination whose complete textual conditions, strength and context must be checked.
Strength can include positional, directional, temporal and motional factors rather than one simple score.
A RESPONSIBLE READING ORDER
Parāśari, Jaimini, Tājika, nāḍi and regional traditions can use different rules and priorities. The website should identify the method instead of blending incompatible rules into one prediction.
